FAQs
Q. My child has an excellent high school guidance counselor. Why do I need to hire an independent college counselor?
A. High school guidance counselors can be an effective resource, but caseloads may not permit the time and attention necessary to showcase students applying to highly selective colleges and universities.
Q. Why should I hire Benjamin College Consulting instead of another independent college counselor?
A. In addition to his experience as a professor of English, Benjamin was trained at Harvard to advise students and families on all aspects of the college admission process. As a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association Benjamin is committed to the highest ethical standards while helping students achieve their academic and personal goals.

Q. When should I hire Benjamin College Consulting to work with my child?
A. Many of our students come to us in their sophomore or junior year of high school, but we also work with students much earlier. The benefit to our clients in starting early is that we can maximize the effect of our services on the student’s academic curriculum, intellectual interests, and extra curricular activities.
Q. Do you have an educational philosophy related to the college selection and admission process?
A. Our philosophy is to find the best match or “fit” between an individual student and a college or university where he or she will be most happy and successful, academically and personally. Additionally, if given the chance to work with a student early enough in the process, we focus on developing the student’s intellectual infrastructure in order to stand out on a national basis.
Q. Can I afford Benjamin College Consulting?
A. Yes. Benjamin offers a range of services and will customize a program to fit your family’s budget and needs.

Q. Are you available to meet at night and on weekends?
A. Yes. Benjamin prides himself on availability and access and is happy to meet students around their schedule.
Q. May I speak with a one of your former clients?

Confidentiality is of the utmost importance to Benjamin College Consulting and the families we work with. You can expect the same level of confidentiality.
